Holiday Expectations

Last year if you looked under my Christmas tree you would see tons and tons of Christmas presents flooding beneath the branches. I over spent on my two year old and now most of those toys have missing pieces or been donated due to lack of interest.

This year I sat down and really thought about what was important this holiday season.

1.Family
2.Fun
3.Love

When I look at my daughter I see the best gift I ever got for Christmas I believe she deserves the world and everything she ever wants. What I forget is that mentality "I deserve the world without having to work for anything," is probably not the set of morals I should be instilling her with.  I don't mind giving my daughter toys that she wants but I also realize that sometimes not getting everything is actually a good thing. At least then she has something to work and strive for.

So I give her family by surrounding her with all our loved ones as much as possible this holiday season. Filling the room with laughter and discussion.  We have fun by mixing in a few gifts that mean a lot to me and her and not putting a huge focus on the amount of things she got but the amount of fun we have with them. A three year old is great with make believe a few items can create days and days of fun. And lastly spending a few extra minutes loving her kissing her and talking to her. Making sure she knows the best thing that ever happened to me is her.

So what is my plan to save some money this holiday?

Well you'll have to wait for my special holiday budget post coming soon!
